I’m a journalist.

Do you need a journalist?

I’ve been a journalist for 20 years. I write features, profiles and first-person essays for The Times, The Telegraph, The Guardian, The Observer and Condé Nast Traveller, and in 2024 I won AITO Travel Writer of the Year. I learnt the trade on print magazines, which means I file clean copy, to length, on deadline.

A way with words

Editors commission me on travel, food, homes and profiles, and personal essays about my own slightly unusual family. I’ve covered Manila’s coolest ungentrified corner for The Observer, sulphur baths in Tbilisi for easyJet Traveller and what it’s like to raise a baby with one mum and two dads. I also edit magazines, so I’m as happy commissioning and shaping other writers as filing my own copy.

I’ve written about homes, travel, people, food & drink and sex & relationships. I’m happy to pitch ideas and work to brief. If you have a specific commission in mind or need a freelance journalist for any project, please do say hello.
