Bernd

Storyteller and party-thrower Bernd Vienna: ‘I love buying piles of fabric to use as outfits or just to drape in the flat as table-cloths or throws.’ By live writer Ellie

Bernd is a graphic designer by day, performance artist by night. He lives alone in a small, colourful apartment in a building that dates from the early 1900s, when it was a textile factory. After the chaos of living in shared accommodation, Bernd has turned his home into a calm spot where whatever he wants goes. Which means that on Saturday nights the calm is shattered and his dining table becomes a dressing table for the troupe of friends he performs with. Beautiful original hardwood flooring and high ceilings characterise this four-room flat. A grand entrance hall opens out on to the bedroom and living space. Clever use of strong colours and a large dining table give the impression of a much bigger apartment, and a bed built on to a platform provides lots of hidden storage space for all the things that don’t have a home.
