Road trip

Karol Lewandowski and Aleksandra Ślusarczyk did just that. They’re now on an epic voyage from the very top of North America to Argentina’s southernmost tip. Ellie Fazan joins them as they travel through Alaska and Canada

We began the Alaskan part of our adventure from a small town called Chicken. And we mean really small; there are just seven official residents and it’s one of the few gold rush towns left in the state. The symbolic aim of our visit to Alaska was to hike the Stampede Trail to see the ‘magic bus’ from the film Into The Wild.

We first watched the film on a cold, rainy night in Poland 10 years ago, and the story of Alexander Supertramp inspired all our travels. We’ve now visited over 50 countries. In Canada and Alaska alone we’ve covered more than 12,000 miles! The Stampede Trail is an old mining route, more than 20 miles each way, and in many places it’s muddy and hard to pass.
